2002-2010

Brandon Ballengée’s Eco Actions workshops for children are immersive, interdisciplinary experiences that blend environmental science with art, ecology, and hands-on discovery. Designed to foster a deep connection to nature, these workshops invite young participants to explore local biodiversity through creative activities such as drawing, sculpture, field observation, and performance. By encouraging children to engage directly with their natural surroundings, Ballengée empowers them to become both artists and young citizen scientists, nurturing curiosity, ecological awareness, and a sense of stewardship for the environment. His workshops have been celebrated internationally for making complex ecological issues accessible, meaningful, and inspiring for younger audiences.

Eco Actions Children's Workshop Exhibition at Sculpture in the Parklands, Lough Boora

The Eco Actions children's workshop exhibition showcases a vibrant week of hands-on environmental art and nature-based learning led by renowned ecological artist Brandon Ballengée and Legitimate Bodies Dance Company. This unique programme invited children from County Offaly to creatively explore the rich biodiversity of the Boora landscape, blending art, science, and ecology.

Held at Sculpture in the Parklands, Lough Boora Discovery Park, the workshop formed part of our summer school programme, offering immersive outdoor education experiences in one of Ireland’s most inspiring natural and artistic landscapes.

The project was generously funded by the Heritage Council and the Offaly Heritage Office, supporting community engagement with heritage, biodiversity, and environmental awareness.
