Recognition and Awards for Sculpture in the Parklands (2002–2010)

From 2002 to 2010, Sculpture in the Parklands received national recognition for its outstanding contributions to public art, environmental regeneration, and community collaboration. Among its accolades was the Local Authority Members Association (LAMA) Award, which celebrates excellence in community-led and publicly supported initiatives. In 2007, artist and curator Kevin O’Dwyer was awarded the Best Sculpture Award by LAMA for his pivotal role in the development of Sculpture in the Parklands and for his artistic contributions that helped define the identity of the project. This honour recognised both the strength of his creative vision and the lasting impact of site-specific sculpture on the reclaimed boglands of Lough Boora.

The project also received a Business2Arts Award, celebrating its successful partnership between the arts and the corporate sector. This recognition underscored how Sculpture in the Parklands effectively bridged artistic innovation with corporate and civic support—particularly through collaboration with Bord na Móna and Offaly County Council. These awards affirmed the project's cultural and environmental significance, helping to position it as a model for sustainable public art and reinforcing Lough Boora Discovery Park’s reputation as a leading destination for environmental sculpture in Ireland.
